Malware analysis and reverse engineering to provide knowledge transfer sessions to end users
For thirteen weeks i have been diving into the wonderful world of malware and consultancy at Capgemini Belgium's Cybersecurity division. Between February 2023 and June 2023 i have had the opportunity to perform an internship at this wonderful company.
Capgemini is a business and technology transformation partner with its primary goal to unlocking the value of technology. It is an international IT services and consultancy company and was founded by Serge Kampf in 1967.
As my prior experience(s) were at non-IT companies – I now discovered you should absolutely start at an IT company in your career. What path you choose next is totally up to you – but the learning opportunities and networking is priceless. This internship delivered these exact expectations.
Since malware is a continuous threat for any kind and size of business, understanding this threat is important. Malware (analysis) is one of many domains within cybersecurity. The goal of this internship was to learn and share all of the knowledge obtained throughout my internship.
This was done in multiple phases, with the primary focus on "doing first, documenting later". Providing live malware samples and sharing the knowledge i had obtained throughout my internship was an amazing experience. At this point i feel like i'm not even finished yet, while we were only just getting started.
